Marriage Greatness Tip

How is playing the, you should know me  and read my mind game supposed to make your marriage better?

When you refuse to make your husband aware of why you are upset with him, two things happen and neither of them are good.

  1. Your anger will become intensified by his inability to be as perceptive as you would like for him to be. It’s like you want him to become a mind reader and the only man that I know of that can truly read anyone’s mind is Jesus and He is God. So, stop playing that kind of game and let your husband know what’s really going on inside of you. The more you open up and reveal to your husband the truth about what’s going on with you, the more perceptive he will become, because of the connection that will be built during the moments of disclosure.

  2. The second thing that will happen if you continue to play the read my mind you should know me game is that it will lead to your husband becoming angry with you. At first, he will care enough to want to know why you are upset, but as it progresses he will become fed up with the behavior and respond to you in an uncaring manner. Not because he doesn’t want to care, but because you are making it impossible for him to love you the way that he wants to love you. So, in essence you are self sabotaging your marriage with this mind game and you don’t even realize that you are doing it.

Consider the following passages of scripture –

James 4:17 (ESV) – So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

Romans 12:18 (ESV) – If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Psalm 37:8 (ESV) – Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.

Colossians 3:9 (ESV) – Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices

Move Your Marriage to Greatness with intentional actions that are kind, loving, and respectful.
